Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 update brings enhanced PS5 Pro support, new costumes and more

As they have done in alignment with other Spider-Man projects, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was announced to be receiving a couple bonus costumes inspired by the newly-released Spider-Man: Brand New Day as well as the upcoming Marvel Tokon. Available now, this latest update brings with it more than just a couple cosmetics – having now updated Spider-Man 2 on PS5 Pro with Enhanced PSSR support.

Taking to Bluesky to make the announcement, Insomniac Games officially detailed update 1.005.000 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, writing:

“It's a Brand New Day for Marvel's Spider-Man 2! Get TWO NEW SUITS for Peter Parker in today's update, including the Fresh Start and the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls suits.”

While this was already known (having been announced last month) this update also brings with it a surprise boost to visual clarity on PlayStation 5 Pro, owing to the implementation of Sony’s Enhanced PSSR upscaler (colloquially known as PSSR 2).

Additionally, the update also adds support for the PS5’s Power Saver mode. As of now, the benefits of this mode remain somewhat dubious, giving players a slightly worse experience in favour of drawing far less power from the console. As with other games which include such an option however, this is likely in service of the rumoured PlayStation 6 handheld. Either way, this update is a welcome one, especially with the addition of PSSR 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was already a great looking game on the base PS5, and so it will be interesting to see how much crisper the game will now look on the Pro.
