Overwatch has surpassed 30 million players

Overwatch has been out for close to a year now and during that time, the player base has expanded a ton. Back during the summer of 2016, Overwatch had 15 million players and now Blizzard has managed to double that, with 30 million people having now played its shooter.

Overwatch is Blizzard's first brand new IP in years and with 30 million players on board, it has been a huge success. Blizzard revealed its latest milestone in a tweet last week.

Later this year, Blizzard will be expanding Overwatch's presence in esports too, with the launch of the Overwatch league and an Overwatch World Cup. Aside from that, Blizzard will be keeping players coming back with new maps and characters. Currently, Overwatch has six new maps in development, three for competitive/quick play and three for events or brawls.
