Thermal Grizzly now sells delidded CPUs backed by warranty

Delidding your CPU is often the best way to get the absolute best temperatures and overclocking potential, but the process of doing it is a daunting one and can potentially void warranty. Thermal Grizzly is looking to make it as easy as possible moving forward, with its own series of TG Delidded CPUs and better yet, Thermal Grizzly will assume the manufacturer's warranty, so you'll be just as protected as if you were to buy directly from Intel or AMD.

Offering everyone from beginners to veterans a gateway into the world of maximum cooling performance, the new TG Delidded CPU series is now available, delivering the ability to use direct-die cooling solutions without having to go through the risk of delidding the processor yourself. By delidding a CPU, you remove the heatspreader, allowing for a CPU cooler to be mounted directly to the chiplets of the CPU for the best possible cooling.

However, not just any cooler will do. CPU dies are susceptible to damage, which is why processors are typically sold with a heatspreader protecting the die underneath. With that in mind, you'll want to ensure you pair your delidded CPU with an appropriate direct-die cooler, such as the Mycro Direct Die liquid cooler. You could also opt for a third-party high-performance heatspreader and a more traditional AIO cooling solution.

Since delidding a CPU voids the manufacturer’s warranty, Thermal Grizzly assumes the warranty and tests the processors after delidding. A screenshot of this functionality test, along with a microscope photograph of the chip, is saved on a USB stick and included with the purchase.

The TG Delidded CPU series launches with the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and will later be expanded to include additional processors such as the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. It is unclear if delidded Intel CPUs will also soon become part of the lineup.
