Custom Gigabyte RTX 4070 graphics card leak shows both 16-pin and 8-pin power connectors

A few weeks ago, rumours claimed that the RTX 4070 line-up would be split into two camps, with cheaper graphics cards using standard 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and higher-end cards using the new 16-pin power connector. Newly leaked images of Gigabyte's custom RTX 4070 line-up appear to confirm this.

Twitter user @momomo_us has been active with graphics card leaks and has proven to be a fairly reliable source for information. Recently, they shared an image showing the Eagle, Windforce, Gaming and Aero editions of the Gigabyte RTX 4070. Each design is a little different, but the main difference appears to be the use of standard PCIe connectors on the Eagle and Windforce cards, and a move to 12VHPWR on the Gaming and Aero GPUs.

The leaked renders suggest that Nvidia is splitting the RTX 4070 cards into two versions with different TDPs. The lower TDP cards would use the single 8-pin power connector (200W TDP), while the 16-pin graphics cards would rely on the 12VHPWR connector to deliver the required power (225W TDP).

Nvidia has not yet officially announced the RTX 4070, but rumours claim it should launch as soon as next week.

KitGuru says: If you had to buy an RTX 4070 graphics card, would you go for one with an 8-pin or a 16-pin power interface?
