Homefront: The Revolution delayed until 2016

Homefront: The Revolution has faced a string of development issues following its announcement. The game was initially being made by Crytek, who were at risk of going bankrupt, causing staff to go months without being paid, as you can imagine, many of them eventually stopped working entirely.

Eventually, the Homefront IP was transferred to publisher, Deep Silver, and the Crytek UK studio team went along with it to form Dambuster Studios. Now the game's development is back in full swing but the prior setbacks have caused the game to slip from its 2015 release date in to 2016.

CEO of Deep Silver, Jlemens Kundratiz, said in a press release: “Dambuster Studios are an extraordinarily talented group. We are giving the team every opportunity to turn Homefront: The Revolution into a best-selling title, and have set a 2016 release date to provide them the time they need to achieve this. You can expect to hear more about the game later this year.”

Homefront: The Revolution will eventually launch on the PC, Xbox One and PS4. It is set to feature some major changes in comparison to the original Homefront title, which released back in 2011.

KitGuru Says: A delay for HomefrontL The Revolution should have been expected following all of the drama with Crytek just last year. Deep Silver probably should have switched to a 2016 release date soon after it acquired the IP. That said, we don't know exactly how much work had been done on the game prior to its announcement.
