Resident Evil HD is Capcom’s fastest selling digital title

The Resident Evil HD Remaster launched at the end of last month for the PC, Xbox One, PS4 and last generation consoles and it has since gone on to become Capcom's fastest selling digital title in just under three weeks.

Capcom announced today that Resident Evil HD has become its fastest selling digital title in its history across not just North America but Europe as well. Additionally, the re-released classic broke the record for highest selling day one digital release on the PlayStation Network.

“It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have enjoyed this new release. The team here at Capcom Japan have worked hard to bring the game to the latest generation of consoles and we are thrilled at this news on its performance,” said producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi.

Resident Evil HD launched with positive reviews and many fans of the series eager to revisit its origins. With enough sales, it is possible that this will lead to Capcom to remastering Resident Evil 2 as well.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.

  1. I already had the Gamecube version of this, but bought it again for the PS4 (nostalgia, rather than Master Race it). I think it’s more than likely that they’ll do the RE4 HD remaster next, rather than a RE2 remaster. But I’d buy the RE2 one in a heart beat.
