ROCCAT Pyra Wireless USB Gaming Mouse (& Sota Surface) Review

Many people may not appreciate the extent to which a gaming surface will enhance the performance of a gaming mouse.  The ROCCAT Sota has a granular plastic surface which is designed to help the mouse track accurately and glide smoothly.  In our tests it proved this; we noticed no lapses in tracking and glide was smooth and effortless.

The hard plastic construction of the Sota also means it is quite robust.  So it won't be damaged if you spill coffee or any of those caffeine-filled drinks that we associate with those late night gaming sessions!  We don't feel, however, that it is the best gaming surface for the Pyra.  As the Pyra is designed for gamers on the move, we would have thought that a cloth pad that can be rolled up would be more appropriate as the Sota is made from rigid plastic.

But for those who aren't planning to travel around a lot, the Sota is great.  I've personally been using a ROCCAT Sota for a few months now with a SteelSeries Xai and I couldn't be happier with it.  Unlike some larger surfaces, it's a convenient size which should fit onto most desks.
