ROG Strix XG27AQMR packs a WQHD IPS panel with 300Hz refresh rate

If you're looking for a fast IPS gaming monitor with a WQHD resolution, the new Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR might be precisely what you're looking for. With a 300Hz refresh rate, the new Asus ROG Strix monitor delivers the performance and image quality you expect from a high-end gaming monitor.

Packing a 27-inch IPS panel with a 2560×1440 resolution, up to 300Hz refresh rate (overclockable) and 1ms G2G response time, the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR is the company's latest monitor aimed at competitive gamers. The brightness of the 10-bit panel sits at a typical 350nits but peaks at 600nits. As expected from an IPS panel, the contrast ratio is around 1000:1, allowing it to cover 97% of the DCI-P3 spectrum and 120% of the sRGB gamut. These specs were enough to certify it with the VESA DisplayHDR 600 standard.

As expected from a monitor of this tier, it comes calibrated out-of-the-box (△E< 2). Moreover, it's VESA AdaptiveSync certified and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync (compatible). Other gaming-oriented features include ELMB (Extreme Low Motion Blur) Sync, multi HDR modes, shadow enhancing tools, GamePlus overlay, GameVisual colour presets, flicker-free tech and low blue light mode.

Connectivity-wise, there are 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. With the included ergonomic stand, you can tilt, swivel, pivot and adjust the height. However, if you think that's not enough for your needs, you can mount a VESA 100×100 monitor arm.

The pricing of the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR hasn't been revealed yet, but considering the 270Hz model goes for around £700-800, we expect the new one will go north of that.

KitGuru says: The spec sheet sure makes this monitor impressive. However, for that same reason, pricing might be a bit too steep for most users.
