The PS5’s 3D headset gets black colour 11 months after launch

When Sony introduced the PS5, it revealed the company’s new design aesthetic for the generation, including a two-toned black and white colour scheme. Since then, the console manufacturer has slowly started to offer more options, with the latest example seeing the Pulse 3D wireless now finally being offered in black.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Isabelle Tomatis, the Senior Director of PS VR, eSports, Peripherals Marketing and Licensing at SIE said “Building upon the new galaxy-themed colors we introduced for DualSense wireless controllers in June, I am pleased to share that the Pulse 3D headset is also getting a new color – Midnight Black.”

While the new headset may look like the original device but painted black, it is in fact made up of “two subtly different shades of black” – though in every other way it is exactly the same as the original release back in November 2020.

With this latest colour, two of the PS5’s biggest accessories are now available in black. With the console’s external plates being removable, it is safe to assume that the company will eventually introduce a black colour scheme for that too. Hopefully it doesn’t take another 12 months to do so however. The full details on the Pulse 3D wireless headset itself can be found HERE.
