Overclocked AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX sets new multi-core world record

At the press conference covering the launch of the new Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000WX series, AMD claimed that the new Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX would be capable of scoring over 184K points in Cinebench R23 if overclocked. However, it seems AMD underestimated the capabilities of professional overclockers.

According to QuasarZone (via VideoCardz), AMD's press conference held last month included a PowerPoint presentation where the company claimed that the Threadripper Pro 7995WX could beat the Cinebench R23 record holder of the time with ease if overclocked properly. The presentation stated that the Ryzen Threadripper 7995WX could score 184,028 points, probably using LN2 cooling. At that moment, the world record stood at 147668 points, set on a dual EPYC CPU machine with 192 cores.

Recently, we've seen the 7995WX score 161K points on the Cinebench R23 under air cooling and 167K points under water cooling, but it seems the chip has even more potential. Some overclockers who got their hands on Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX samples have started to play with these CPUs and tested them, namely Sampson and DogFace.

Using the cooling capabilities of liquid nitrogen and a massive copper heatsink, DogFace pushed an AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX to a whopping 183,391 points, getting pretty close to AMD's claims. However, Sampson beat AMD's expectations, scoring 186,756 points with a sample of the same CPU and setting a new world record. Soon after, new records kept coming in, with safedisk being the top scorer at the time of writing with 210,702 points.
