Nintendo announced months ago that the Switch 2 would be backwards compatible with Switch 1 titles, bar a few limited exceptions. However, it turns out Switch 1 titles aren't running natively on Switch 2 and are instead relying on emulation. 

While Nintendo has not revealed the detailed specifications of the chip powering the Switch 2 console, the company has revealed two crucial bits of information - the GPU has ray-tracing capabilities and DLSS is supported. 

The upcoming Mario Kart World will cost a staggering $80 (£75) for a physical copy on Switch 2 - though digital copies are at least slightly cheaper.

With the Switch 2 Direct just a week away, insiders have revealed some of Nintendo’s launch plans for the console – including a 3-phase game release strategy.

Over the past couple years, we’ve seen Microsoft bring over a select number of first-party Xbox titles to both PlayStation and the Nintendo Switch.
