An all-digital white Xbox Series X console is reportedly in the works

Last year, Microsoft's plans for an all-digital Xbox Series X console leaked. While Microsoft has recently stated it doesn't plan to do away with physical media just yet, this all-digital Xbox Series X could be landing in just a few months. Current rumours also suggest that this new digital version of the console will also be available in white, marking the first time the Series X has been available in another colour option.

The report from Exputer (via VideoCardz) also added that the new white variant is expected to have an improved heatsink and some other internal upgrades. It should also be more affordable than the current version, which retails for $499. The estimated price reduction is expected to be between $50 and $100. While the website claims to have seen supporting video footage, it has not yet been shared.

This move towards an all-digital console doesn't come as a surprise, as leaked slides last year showed a mid-gen redesign for the Series X without a disc drive and with a new cylindrical design. That leaked slide can be seen above. The revamped console may also make the jump to 2TB storage capacity and add a USB Type-C port on the front.

According to the report, we should see official news on this Series X refresh this summer. The timing lines up well, as we are now about four years into this current console generation. Sony revamped its PS5 design in late 2023 with a slimmer version and detachable disc drive.
