Call of Duty Modern Warfare III officially announced

For a while, it seemed as though Call of Duty would be skipping a year, with 2023 set to introduce an expansion-like experience into last year’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. Since then, Activision confirmed that we would be seeing a brand new full-blown COD entry this year. Finally, we have gotten our first official teaser for the game, confirming its name and release date,

In a teaser trailer published online titled “Modern Warfare III is Coming” (with the tagline ‘The ultimate threat awaits’), the less-than-a minute-long cinematic features the Modern Warfare series’ green iconography being taken over by a deep red, alongside a number of voice lines by the now iconic Captain Price.

The teaser did not give too much away, however it did confirm that this year’s entry in the first person shooter franchise will indeed be Modern Warfare III. Additionally, the trailer revealed that MWIII is planned to launch on the 10th of November – a little later than last year’s MWII (which was released at the tail end of October).

For those who are disappointed by the trailer’s lack of gameplay (or any real footage really), the team previously confirmed that we would be getting our first proper look at the upcoming game during the 5th Season of Warzone – likely next Thursday.

With this year’s COD being originally planned as DLC – until Sledgehammer Games were later tasked with turning it into a full game – it will be interesting to see whether this year’s Call of Duty manages to carve out its own unique identity, or whether it will be more like Modern Warfare 2.5. We will have to wait and see.
