‘Metroid Ravenous’ leaks via Brazil rating board

Metroid is one of Nintendo’s more interesting franchises, with the genre-defining series seeing long bouts of silence over its 40 year history. Despite its relatively lacklustre response, the recently-released Metroid Prime 4: Beyond looks set to be just the first in a line of new games, with Metroid ‘Ravenous’ now being rated online.

As reported by the Nintendo leaker NecroFelipe, Brazil's Ministry of Justice and Public Security recently published a new listing for a game titled Metroid: Ravenous alongside its year of production: 2026. While no further details were provided, this is highly likely to be the next entry in Samus’ 2D adventures – following on from 2021’s Metroid Dread.

As mentioned, the most recent game in the franchise was Metroid Prime 4: Beyond which was finally released last year after almost a decade of waiting. Given this fact, we are unlikely to see a new 3D Metroid for quite some time.

On the flip-side, not only has Dread been out for half a decade now, but the game was also received far more favourably overall – amassing a Metacritic score of 88 (compared to Prime 4’s 78 rating.)

Following this discovery, VGC’s Andy Robinson took to Twitter to offer even greater news, claiming “More than one of these are coming, I’m told. We eating, Metroid fans!”

What this means exactly is unknown, but it would not be surprising to see a remaster of one of Metroid’s older outings being worked on alongside ‘Ravenous’.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Metroid in 2026? Is the series worth keeping alive? Do you prefer the 2D or 3D Metroids? Let us know down below.
