Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced

Ever since its initial launch back in 2020, the team at Asobo Studio have continually improved all aspects of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator, with various tech and content updates making for a much more complete and bespoke experience. In a surprise announcement, the team officially unveiled the game’s sequel – Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Announced during the Xbox and Starfield Game Showcase, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is a brand new title in the series “designed to take advantage of the latest technologies in simulation, cloud, machine learning, graphics and gaming to create the most sophisticated, immersive and awe-inspiring flight simulator of all time.”

Details on the game’s tech are light at the moment, though the team has confirmed that MSFS 2024 runs on a “significantly evolved Asobo Studio engine” – suggesting that this sequel will push the game to new heights.

In terms of content, Flight Simulator 2024 is greatly expanding the role of the player, offering well over a dozen new jobs and objectives including:

  • Aerial Firefighting
  • Search and Rescue
  • Helicopter Cargo Transport
  • Air Ambulance
  • Agricultural Aviation
  • Mountain Rescue
  • Skydive Aviation
  • Aerial Construction
  • Industrial Cargo Transport
  • VIP Charter Service
  • Air Racing
  • Glider Pilot
  • Scientific Research
  • Experimental Flight
  • Low Altitude Training
  • Executive Transport Service
  • Airship Tour
  • Hot air Balloon Trips

With how consistently and thoroughly Asobo has been updating Microsoft Flight Simulator the announcement of a sequel comes as quite a surprise. That said, with all of the announced additions and the nearly two-dozen additional jobs, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 seems to be taking everything to the next level. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (unsurprisingly) launches next year.
