PlayStation-published Lost Soul Aside might finally be coming out soon

Starting development all the way back in 2016 as a one-man project, Lost Soul Aside has been eagerly anticipated by many thanks to its Final Fantasy Versus XIII (later FFXV) inspired visuals and flashy action combat. Over the years, the game’s ambitions grew, and so did the team, sitting at around 40 developers today. Though we still have no release window all these years later, a new rating coming from the dev’s home country might indicate an impending release.

Being developed by the Chinese game studio Ultizero Games, Lost Soul Aside is a part of Sony’s China Hero Project – an effort to fund unique games from Chinese studios. As part of this, PlayStation will also be publishing Lost Soul Aside, with the announcement made back in late 2022.

Since then, we have seen more footage of Lost Soul Aside during 2023’s ChinaJoy event, though still no release date in sight.

As stated by the official Lost Soul Aside Twitter page however, the game has now “got an ISBN license approval to release in China” – an equivalent to the likes of the ESRB or PEGI organisations.

Further explained by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad “This means the game has been reviewed and can officially launch in mainland China. In other words, there will be news for the launch of the game fairly soon (At least within the next 3 months or so, typically.)”

After waiting almost a decade for Lost Soul Aside, fans of the game might finally get their hands on the title later this year – hopefully.

KitGuru Games: DLSS 5 misses the point

It would be hard to argue that NVIDIA’s DLSS technologies haven’t been a net positive to the PC space, with the machine-learning based upscaler successfully translating lower resolution inputs into a final image which is perceivably sharper while hogging fewer resources. Though somewhat more contentious, the next evolution of DLSS came in the form of Frame Generation, using ML in order to generate additional frames for high-refresh rate gaming. Both techniques can have their issues, but generally speaking they’ve allowed for more people to experience higher-end titles at increased frame rates. DLSS 5, however, takes a sharp pivot, with a very different end goal in mind than the performance-boosting versions that came before.
