Rumoured Final Fantasy IX remake to be similar to Crisis Core Reunion

Over the generations we have seen Square Enix remaster and re-release their older Final Fantasy titles using various different techniques. From a basic upscale to full-on reimaginings, the publisher’s remakes span a gamut of quality and scope. According to an industry insider, the rumoured Final Fantasy IX remake will lie somewhat in the middle.

As reported by trusted industry insider Jeff Grubb, Final Fantasy IX remake “is on its way”. Adding additional information, Grubb claimed that the scale of the remake will be somewhere between the recently-released Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion and FFVII Remake – meaning all of the main story elements should remain the same.

Additionally, the game will keep its ATB system, meaning gameplay should likewise remain the same as the original.

There’s no denying that Final Fantasy VII Remake is an ambitious endeavour by Square Enix, and while many fans enjoy the direction taken with the title, others wished for a more basic remake. It will be interesting to see just how much work is being put into the FFIX remake and whether it will resonate with fans.
