Xbox Game Pass’ 10% DLC discount has also been removed

Over the past few days, Microsoft has made a ton of changes to its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Alongside the massive price increase pretty much across the board, the console maker has now confirmed that its Game Pass DLC discount program is going away.

Following the recent revamp of Xbox Game Pass, those still subscribed to the service noticed that one of Game Pass’ previously-advertised features – that being a 10% discount on all DLC – was no longer showing up.

Reaching out to the publication Kotaku, Microsoft confirmed the change to its DLC discount program, writing:

“Instead of a discount on the purchases, Ultimate and Premium subscribers will earn 10% and 5% – respectively – in points when purchasing select games and add-ons from the Game Pass library,” adding that “Ultimate members continue to have 20% discount on select games from the Game Pass library.”

This lines up with one of Xbox’s other changes, in which Microsoft Rewards points can no longer be used directly for monthly Game Pass memberships – instead requiring you to use your points to obtain store credit, which can then be spent on Game Pass.

Over the years we’ve seen plenty of different subscription services raise prices for one reason or another. That said, it is highly uncommon to see a service altered so fundamentally within such a short amount of time. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Game Pass in the coming months.
