Sony drops PS4 price by £50 in UK

Sony has a tough holiday season ahead of it thanks to Microsoft's strong line up of exclusive releases, including Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider- along with a brand/advertising deal on Fallout 4. However, Sony isn't giving up its lead that easily and has announced a price cut for the PlayStation 4 this holiday season. This price cut is already in effect over in the US as well as Japan but now it is heading to the UK and Europe.

The 500GB PlayStation 4 console will now start at €349.99/£299.99, though if you shop around, retailers will be throwing in extras, like controllers, games and PlayStation+ memberships. The deals will get better as we get closer to Christmas as well.

This price cut applies to non-European regions as well, so those in New Zealand and Australia will also be able to pick up PS4 consoles slightly cheaper.

Right now, Microsoft has not responded with a price cut of its own, though it has dropped the price of the Xbox One significantly since launch. This is the first time that Sony has given the PS4 an official price cut.

KitGuru Says: I'm primarily a PC gamer, but there are a bunch of exclusives I appreciate on console. Right now, the thing driving me towards a PS4 is the chance to finally play The Last of Us, Uncharted and Until Dawn. However, given that I already have an Xbox, I'm not sure I want to invest in yet another system. Have any of you picked up one of the new consoles yet?
