The final Halo 3 easter egg has been found seven years after release

A long-lost Halo 3 easter egg has finally been found seven years after the game's release. The hidden message was discovered by a dedicated easter egg hunter, following a clue that was left back in 2012. Yesterday, competitive shooter site, TeamBeyond.net posted a discovery made by modder, Lord Zedd.

If you press down on both thumbsticks on the Halo 3 loading screen, the camera will zoom out, revealing more of the iconic Halo ring. A member of the Halo YouTube community noticed that if you looked closely you could see a message on the ring that says: Happy Birthday Lauren!

How was this not discovered sooner? Well it turns out that the message only appears on Christmas day. As long as your Xbox 360 date is set to the 25th of December, you'll see the message. This final Easter Egg became a topic of discussion after a Bungie Engineer brought it up in conversation:

A fan asked Jon Cable: “Are there any Easter eggs from your past games that surprised you at how quickly they were found or any that surprised you at how long they took to find?”, to which he responded: “There is one Easter egg in Halo 3 that I don't think anyone has found — I stumbled across it in code a while back. It only happens on a specific day… so good luck.”

KitGuru Says: Now the Easter Egg hunters of the world can ease off, it only took them seven years to find this one.
