Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Review

We test the USB 3.0 performance on the PC Specialist Vanquish Enforcer system with one of our fastest portable flash drives – the Patriot SuperSonic Magnum 256GB. We reviewed this back in February, check it out over here.

No performance issues from the single USB 3.0 port on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, scoring just over 300 MB/s in the read test and around 160 MB/s in the write test. Due to the nature of this kind of flash, and via the USB 3.0 interface, 4k and 4k QD32 performance is substantially worse than from a native SSD drive across a SATA connector.

Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

The drive scores around 270 MB/s read and 60 MB/s write in the ATTO disk test, a little down on those achieved with CrystalDiskMark, but still strong.
