Nintendo Wii U to be shown at E3 conference

Nintendo have announced that their new Wii U console will be launching next year and they are working hard to ensure a stronger launch than last time.

Satoru Iwata, the president of the company said “Based on the bitter experiences we have had with the Nintendo 3DS, we are making every effort to prepare so that the Wii U will not stumble during its launch.”

The console will be shown at the E3 conference in June at Los Angeles. The Wii U has been promoted with a small gamepad/tablet device which is connected wirelessly to the main unit. It has dual thumb controlled joysticks and control buttons. The key selling point is that the controller can actually be used to play the games, without a television set.

The Wii U came under fire as the company showed video footage from other consoles at their presentations. Nintendo haven't had a strong 2011, claiming losses due in part to the 3DS price cuts to try and drive flagging sales.

    I think its too late. this will be hitting retail at the end of the lifespan of the current Ps3 and 360 consoles.
