Portal RTX is launching next week

Nvidia's in-house Lightspeed Studios has worked with several game developers in recent years to bring RTX features to various titles. During that time, this team has also created its own fully ray-traced remasters of games like Quake II and Minecraft. Next on the list is Portal RTX, which is officially launching in December.

Nvidia Lightspeed Studios used its own Omniverse tools to create Portal RTX. This won't be a separate version of the game, but it will instead be made available as a free DLC for all owners of the original game on the 8th of December. The new RTX version offers enhanced visuals and ray-tracing, in addition to DLSS 3, so owners of the new RTX 40 series GPUs will get the most out of this game, but those on older RTX cards will still benefit from ray-traced visuals and DLSS 2.

Aside from ray-tracing and DLSS, Portal RTX will also include Nvidia Reflex, so you can minimise latency. Portal was already a snappy game, like most Valve shooters, but now you can reduce latency even further if needed.

To run the game you will need the following specs:

You'll be able to download the Portal RTX DLC through Steam starting on the 8th of December.
