Rainbow Six Siege is coming to iOS and Android

A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Ubisoft was working on a mobile version of Rainbow Six Siege. Now, those rumours have been confirmed, with Ubisoft officially announcing Rainbow Six Mobile for iOS and Android.

We first heard of this game a couple of weeks ago, although the leak may not have been entirely accurate. While initially it was thought that Tencent was involved in development, the lead studio on the project was Ubisoft Montreal. The game has a few modes – Secure Area and Bomb, as well as maps from Siege, like Bank and Border. In signature Rainbow Six Siege style, maps have destructible walls, floors and ceilings.

The defending side will also be able to set traps and set up barricades to fortify walls. From the sounds of it, not much has been changed in the transition from PC and console to mobile.

Ubisoft has not announced when Rainbow Six Mobile will be available, but you can register to be part of upcoming playtests. The game should roll out to a wider audience later this year.

KitGuru Says: We’ve seen mobile spin-offs go badly plenty of times in the past, but some shooters have managed to break through, including the likes of Fortnite and Call of Duty. Do you think Rainbow Six Siege can be successful on mobile?
