A few weeks ago, we learned that Denuvo was suing an unidentified individual for repeatedly cracking their DRM. Now with the lawsuit filed, Denuvo is moving on to the next step – trying to figure out who on earth “voices38” is.
As spotted by TorrentFreak, Denuvo has now filed subpoenas for Discord, Microsoft, Reddit and Valve to obtain any identifying information each company has regarding accounts beleived to belong to ‘voices38'. We already know that they have at least the Reddit account correct, as voices38 themselves appeared on Reddit to comment on the lawsuit when it was first filed.
Denuvo accuses ‘voices38' of creating cracks for key recent titles like 007 First Light and Resident Evil Requiem, as well as other major titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Sonic Frontiers, DOOM: The Dark Ages and more.
While the lawsuit could lead to Denuvo being able to identify the person making these cracks, there are still questions over whether or not this lawsuit will have any impact, as they could live far outside of US jurisdiction.
KitGuru says: We've seen plenty of lawsuits filed against cheat makers over the past decade, but this is the first time we've seen a DRM cracker targeted like this.
