Dune: Awakening gains 1 million additional players following console launch

Dune: Awakening proved to be a hit when the survival-crafter MMO launched on PC last year. At the time it was confirmed that the title would eventually make its way to PS5 and Xbox, officially arriving late last month on the 22nd of September. As with its PC release before it, Dune: Awakening’s console launch has been met with a great deal of interest – with the title amassing an additional 1 million players since its arrival on PS5 / Xbox.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at Funcom wrote: “A few days ago we launched on console and released our biggest update yet across all platforms. Since then, one million new survivors have made Arrakis their home!”

It is worth noting that this does not mean the game has sold 1 million copies on console already, especially as Dune: Awakening was added to Xbox Game Pass on day-one. As mentioned by Funcom themselves, the console release also arrived in alignment with the game’s biggest update so far, meaning that a solid number of the 1 million could have come from PC as well.

Dune Million

Regardless, Dune: Awakening continues to be a major success for Funcom. Back during its initial PC launch, the team revealed that over 1 million copies were sold within its first two weeks. As such, having 1 million additional players within days of its console launch remains impressive (even if a portion of the pie can be attributed to Game Pass players).

Dune: Awakening is currently on sale for 50% off on Steam. Details on the game’s latest update meanwhile can be found HERE.
