Asda beats eBuyer on price of Acer Iconia B1

In a rare turn of events, it looks like high street supermarket giant Asda, part of the mega-Walmart group, has managed a bit of a coup on the tablet front – beating online rival eBuyer on the price of the Iconia B1. KitGuru receives in-store pics and heads off to investigate.

Readers send us stuff. All the time. We love it and we appreciate it. Thanks!

Yesterday, one reader sent in a shot of an Asda stand for the Acer Iconia B1 tablet.

In the header, we were told, “Read your article, saw this and had to send it”.

The article in question, highlighted Acer's attack on the affordable tablet market with a multi-core, 1.2GHz, Cortex A9 processor and a good dose of Jelly Bean-flavoured Android.

OK, the saving might only be 96p, but it IS lower AND you have the added enjoyment of being able to torture the sales assistant with a barrage of questions about ARM, Android and anything else that takes your fancy.

Instant gratification can be yours - even as late as midnight. Asda stocks up on Acer Iconia B1s at just £99.

KitGuru says: Rare for the high street to beat the online resellers, but it's an interesting trend and one that we'd like to see happen more often. It would encourage shoppers into stores more often if they believed that genuine tech bargains were to be had. A business model proven by Medion in Germany.
