Nintendo tell gamers at E3: big games coming, but next year

Nintendo used a direct video presentation at E3 to show that they are focusing on big titles for their Wii U console. The 45 minute presentation highlighted many titles, both old and new, from third party developers and Nintendo themselves.

One of the big problems with the latest Wii U has been the lack of killer titles to help sell the hardware. Sadly it looks as if many of the AAA titles won't be released until 2014. HD Mario Kart will be released in the spring of 2014 for instance. The latest installment of Smash Bros will also be next week. The sequel to Bayonetta? you guessed it, 2014.

Other games in the presentation looked interesting, such as a new open world adventure called X from the creators of Xenosaga – release date is yet again, 2014.

At least some titles are hitting retail at the end of the year. Super Mario 3D World will be released in December. An HD update to The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker – with new exclusive Wii U features will be out in October. Donkey Kong Country – a new 2D side scroller will be out later this year as well, as well Sonic: Lost World.

Nintendo also showcased ‘ports' of successful third party games such as Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Batman Arkham Origins, Disney Infinity, Just Dance 2014, Rayman Legends, Scribblenauts Unlimited: A DC Comics Adventure, Disney's Planes, Skylanders SWAP Force, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Watch Dogs.

Kitguru says: After the high profile activity around the Playstation 4 and Xbox One presentations, it would appear that the Nintendo event was pretty low key.
