Diablo Immortal player discovers hidden gameplay caps for free players

We've heard plenty about Diablo Immortal's microtransactions recently and the caps in place to ensure you have to spend money to get high-grade gems for your gear. As it turns out, there are other hidden gameplay caps in place that players are now beginning to discover.

Echohack, a player with an impressive number of hours in Diablo Immortal spread across alpha/beta tests and the final release, has been able to uncover additional areas of the game that squeeze free players and aim to push them towards spending money. These caps put limits on the number of legendary drops a free player can earn in a day, as well as other rewards.

As pointed out by Forbes, free players are limited to six legendary drops per day, after which drop rates will decrease severely. Your gem drop rate will also take a big hit after collecting six in a day. Side quests and purple bosses stop giving rewards after completing 5 in a day, and random map events are limited to 5 a day too. Finally, you can only visit the Zoltan Kule treasure rooms five times a day and the Hidden Lair dungeons stop giving gem rewards after a few runs too.

Blizzard has not acknowledged or responded to any of the criticism around Diablo Immortal's in-game systems yet. However, the company did go out of its way to celebrate the game's ‘record-setting' launch.
