Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is coming to last-gen consoles in September

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor released last year exclusively for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Despite the added power overhead, the game still struggled to perform perfectly across all platforms. It therefore comes as quite a surprise that the team at Respawn Entertainment have managed to get the game running on last-gen systems – set to arrive on PS4 and Xbox One next month.

Back in August of last year, EA revealed that they were planning to port the current-gen exclusive Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to PS4 and Xbox One. No further details were shared at the time, but almost exactly one year later, we have now gotten an update – with the game set to drop onto Xbox One and PS4 on the 17th of September.

Considering the fact that Jedi Survivor on the PS5 and Series X|S struggled with a number of performance woes at launch, it is hard to imagine what compromises were required to get the game to run on these now decade-old consoles.

That said, it seems the team have spent the past year performing a great deal of optimisations, as alongside the last-gen release, Jedi Survivor will also be getting a patch on PC “in the coming weeks” featuring “enhancements to the game's technical performance, controls and more” – alongside quality-of-life improvements.

It will be highly interesting to see what the team at Respawn had to do to get Jedi Survivor to run presumably-smoothly on these now highly-outdated systems. We won’t have to wait long to find out.
