Crimson Desert helps push Pearl Abyss to new record revenue highs

Crimson Desert is currently one of the biggest success stories of 2026. Following a ton of pre-launch hype, the ambitious open-world title was met with some negativity due to awkward controls amongst other issues. Fortunately, many of these concerns were quickly quashed, with Crimson Desert going on to sell over 5 million copies. Owing to its success, publisher Pearl Abyss have now confirmed that Q1 2026 marked the best fiscal quarter in their company’s history.

Making the announcement as part of their latest fiscal earnings report, developer Pearl Abyss officially confirmed that “thanks to the global success of its new title Crimson Desert, the company achieved the highest quarterly revenue in its history” – representing an increase of just under 420% year-over-year.

Even more impressive is the fact that net profit saw an increase of over 31,000% year-over-year.

Regarding Crimson Desert in particular, Pearl Abyss revealed that the title had generated 81% of the company’s revenue – with the other 19% being attributed to their ongoing MMO Black Desert.

Pearl Abyss Fiscal

Despite being a PC tech showpiece, the platform breakdown for Crimson Desert is surprisingly even, with the revenue split between consoles and PC said to be at exactly 50%.

Regionally, Crimson Desert has found far more success in the West, with Pearl Abyss revealing that ‘overseas sales’ accounted for 94% of total revenue for the period (with 81% percent coming from North America and Europe.)

Pearl Abyss was already trucking along quite healthily thanks to the ongoing success of Black Desert. Even so, it is clear that Crimson Desert has made a big impact not only across the industry itself, but also for the studio’s bottom line. It will be interesting to see where the game goes from here.
