Stalker 2 gets major 2.0 update and new expansion in August

GSC Game World has officially announced the release date for Cost of Hope, the upcoming major expansion for Stalker 2. The new expansion arrives in August, alongside a major free 2.0 update for the base game.

As revealed through a new trailer, Stalker 2: Cost of Hope is now launching on August 20th. The new expansion will send players on a new quest line to discover new weapons, encounter new enemies and explore previously uncharted locations.

While Cost of Hope is a paid expansion, there is also something to look forward to for those who only own the base game. August 20th will also bring the release of Stalker 2 V2.0, a major free update that upgrades the game to a newer version of Unreal Engine 5 with additional stability and performance improvements.

There is still a lot we don't know about update 2.0 and the Cost of Hope expansion, but we won't have to wait long to learn more, as both are just a few weeks away.
