Back in August, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed via Twitter that the console maker was working on a refresh of its Achievements system, revealing that Xbox would soon be getting its own PlayStation Platinum Trophy equivalent. While yet to be officially unveiled, an update to the Xbox app on PC seems to have accidentally shown off the upcoming feature, ‘confirming’ its name, icon and even the sound effect which players upon obtaining a Mythic Achievement.
As shared by the Xbox-focused ‘Klobrille’ on Twitter, a new update for the Xbox app on PC seems to have included a first look at Microsoft’s upcoming Mythic Achievement. While the name itself was already leaked a couple days ago, this new report includes a more official look at the title alongside its unlock icon and sound effects.
Offering further details on the upcoming update, the publication TrueAchievements shared exactly how this new Mythic Achievement will work, claiming that it will retroactively apply to all previous games as long as you have reached 100% completion.
That said, just like with PlayStation’s own Platinum Trophy, new achievements added through DLC / updates will not be factored into the equation – meaning your Mythic won’t suddenly be taken away from you upon the release of new content.
Alongside the aforementioned icon and sound effect, Mythic Achievements will have its own unique animation and system notification upon unlocking; also bringing in a refreshed header and additional stats.
As mentioned, Microsoft themselves have yet to officially announce the feature, and so it is unknown when exactly the functionality will go live. According to TrueAchievements however, fans can expect its arrival “soon”. Additional details can be found HERE.
