Assassin’s Creed Valhalla finally gets Steam Achievements

After years of releasing all its titles first on the Epic Games Store as well as its own launcher, Ubisoft have finally confirmed that they will begin to publish their games day-and-date on Steam starting with next year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows. As part of this, the publisher has been furthering the integration of its games with Steam – finally bringing Achievements to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Halo Infinite to get surprise 3rd-person mode next month

With Halo Infinite failing to become the decade-long platform that Microsoft and 343 Industries were hoping it would evolve into, there have been many leaks and rumours discussing the team’s plan for the franchise’s future. In amongst talk of a switch to Unreal Engine 5 as well as a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, 343i have announced a surprise 3rd-person mode coming to Infinite next month.

Starfield: Shattered Space launches to middling reviews

Just over a year ago, Bethesda Games Studios released Starfield – a ‘big space game’ which had been ruminating in Todd Howard’s mind for over 25 years. Despite its grand ambitions, the title saw a mixed reaction from fans, though positive critic reviews. Unfortunately, it seems as though Starfield’s first expansion ‘Shattered Space’ has failed to impress players on both sides.

Horizon Zero Dawn delisted from Epic Games Store ahead of remaster

Following months of leaks and rumours, Sony officially announced the remaster for its 2017 PS4 title Horizon Zero Dawn – set to come to PS5 and PC on the 31st of October. While there does exist a cheap upgrade path for those who already own the game, Sony appears to be attempting to block any loopholes, with the original game now being delisted from the Epic Games Store.

KitGuru Games: Concord Died because Hero Shooters are BORING

Concord marked the latest attempt by Sony to capitalise off of the hype and perceived popularity surrounding live-service games. Released on the 23rd of August, the Destiny x Overwatch like Hero Shooter lasted less than two weeks before being fully shut down by Sony – refunding all of the roughly 25,000 copies which were estimated to have sold during that time. In the immediacy following this monumental failure, there have been a variety of opinions on just why this game flopped so spectacularly. While certainly not the only reason, I believe that the primary cause of its failings is simple: Hero Shooters are boring.

Recent Final Fantasy games “unfortunately did not meet our expectations” claims Square Enix

Despite being one of the longest-running and most popular video game franchises of all time, Square Enix has struggled to keep Final Fantasy as relevant as it was during the series’ peak. Despite releasing two highly rated Final Fantasy games over the past year or so, Square Enix has reported that the titles “unfortunately did not meet our expectations.”

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PS5 Pro reportedly a “night and day difference”

While the announcement of the long-awaited PlayStation 5 Pro has been somewhat controversial due to its high asking price, it seems as though many of the Pro system’s announced features are in fact the real deal. One of the most discussed PS5  exclusives to suffer from visual issues was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but according to Digital Foundry, the PS5 Pro version offers a “night and day difference.”
