While Google had intended to drop Chrome support for Windows 7 back in 2021, the company ended up extending the window considerably. Now, Google is planning the final version of its popular web browser for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. After this last update, future versions will no longer support Microsoft's legacy operating systems. 

Chrome 110, which should arrive in February 2023, will be the last version of the browser for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, as reported by Android Police. Google also lists this as the last version for these operating systems on its support page.

Microsoft dropped support for Windows 7 back in 2020, and Windows 8.1 won't be supported for much longer either, with plans to drop that in January next year. While it is likely time to finally drop Windows 7, it is worth noting that millions still use the OS, so losing Chrome support could be a bigger deal than it first seems.

While Microsoft made efforts to get all Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users over to Windows 10 with a free upgrade scheme, many still stuck to the older versions. Now, Windows 11 is out, but according to Net Market Share, there are almost as many Windows 7 users as there are Windows 11.
