Girl named ‘like’ by Facebook loving parents

An Israeli couple have decided to call their baby after the ‘like' button on Facebook. In Israel, the most popular names are Noa, Tamar and Maya. Parents Vardit and Lior Adler have broken with all tradition in naming their new baby after a Facebook button.

The couple who live in Hod Hasharon, in Tel Aviv have certainly taken a name that won't be replicated very often. The father said “To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel.”

This isn't the first time the zany couple have named their children in an unusual manner because their first two were called Pie and Dvash (meaning ‘Honey' in Hebrew).

Lior said that the sound of ‘like' was just as important as the meaning “If once people gave Biblical names and that was the icon, then today this is one of the most famous icons in the world.” he said.

Although his family and friends all knew that he would name the new girl with something original, many of them can't believe the name they have ended up with.

a similar reaction when the child reads the birth certificate?

“They simply didn't believe it,” said Lior.

“I believe there will be people who will lift a eyebrow,” he said, “but it is my girl and that's what's fun about it.”

Will one-week-old Like like her name however? Lior said he hoped she would.

“By the way, I asked her, but she wouldn't answer,” he laughed.

KitGuru says: We guess if she changes her name when legally able, the answer will be no.
