New Warhammer 40k Lord Inquisitor teaser appears

If you've just finished watching the latest season of Game of Thrones season, then no doubt you're lamenting the near year wait we now have for season 5. While book readers will scoff at the meer mention of a single year wait for the next part of the series, consider too the fans of Lord Inquisitor, a 10-15 minute short film based in the Warhammer 40,000 universe that's taken four years and counting. While it still doesn't look quite ready, the latest teaser trailer offers an insight into Space Marines that you don't usually get to see: what getting dressed looks like.

If for whatever reason you'd like to read about what happens in the above minute and a half instead of watching it, then know that it features a nude Grey Knight Space Marine Terminator, just before he's suited up. We get a glimpse of his battered, hulking and augmented body as well as his shiny “grey” suit of armour. Some mindless servitors get a look in too, as they help attach the giant pauldrons.

Space Bane here looks pretty badass

While those that have been keeping up with the project might think it's not quite as technically pretty as some of the teasers we've seen before, the creator, Erasmus Brosdau, has revealed that impressively the entire scene was rendered in real time. He's now switched from developing the short film in V-Ray, to CryEngine's Cinebox, an as yet unreleased animation platform that is far, far quicker to render than what he was using before. Early on in development it would take days to render single shots, whereas now it's all real time and doesn't look too worse for wear either.

KitGuru Says: What do you think of the slightly more video-game visuals in the new teaser? The love and care put into it is huge and still makes me wonder why Games Workshop didn't offer this guy a contract to make this official from day one. It was obviously happy with the that so-so Ultramarines movie, why not this?

KitGuru had a stonkingly successful CES 2024, however there is one small gap in our coverage that needs to be addressed. We gave plenty of coverage to Intel's new Core Ultra range of Meteor Lake laptop processors but appeared to give AMD the cold shoulder, and it is now time to fix that apparent oversight.
