Kindle Fire HD is Amazon star seller over Christmas

The Kindle Fire HD proved a great success for Amazon over Christmas as the tablet was the most gifted and wished for item on their store. Amazon are coy when it comes to releasing specific sales figures for their products, but they say that the Kindle Fire HD has held the top spot in all three categories since it was launched.

The Kindle Paperwhite was sold out for weeks and people had to wait on a backorder to get it in time for Christmas. Some people are still waiting for theirs to arrive. The Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire, Kindle Paperwhite and regular Kindle ereader held the top four positions in the Amazon worldwide sales chart.

Amazon claim that more than 23million movies, tv shows, songs, magazines, books, apps and games were downloaded on Christmas day alone. As they also support Android devices, this can't be used as a pure guideline to measure Kindle sales however.
