Leaked slide confirms DDR4 and DDR5 support for Intel Raptor Lake-S platform

We've been hearing for a while now that Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake-S platform will support DDR4 and DDR5 memory. A newly leaked platform overview presentation slide seems to confirm exactly that, in addition to a few other features, like additional PCIe 4.0 lanes and 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes.  

The leaked slide was first shared on Baidu (via HXL), accompanied by photos of other products showcased at Intel's event in Shenzen, China. The event focused on NAS products, but that didn't stop Intel from sharing more about the Raptor Lake-S platform.

As per the slide, the upcoming platform will support DDR5-5600, a nice bump over Alder Lake's DDR5-4800. Moreover, it will support DDR4-3200, as rumours have previously claimed. The slide also states that the new processors will feature increased core counts and L2 and L3 cache, enhanced core and memory OC, and Thunderbolt 4 (USB4 compliant) support.

The slide also shows that in addition to featuring four PCIe 4.0 lanes from the CPU and additional PCIe 4.0 lanes from the chipset, there are also 16 PCIe 5.0 lanes (CPU only), just like Alder Lake. So, if you use a GPU and a PCIe 5.0 SSD, the system will have to split the 16 lanes between the two. If that's the case, each device will have eight lanes.

Intel Raptor Lake is expected to be revealed in Q4, so we won't be waiting much longer for official news.

KitGuru says: Given what we've been hearing about PCIe 5.0 on AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7000 platform, we would have expected increased support from Intel as well. For now, it seems that Raptor Lake-S may have the same level of PCIe 5.0 support as Alder Lake did.
