Intel rumoured to be planning 8th Gen and 9th Gen price cuts to combat Ryzen 3000

The launch of the Zen architecture back in 2017 brought some much needed competition back to the CPU market and AMD is about to hit a new milestone with the launch of Zen 2 next week, which will make the jump to 7nm technology. According to a report, the impending Zen 2 launch could usher in price cuts on Intel’s end in an effort to compete more closely.

According to sources from motherboard manufacturers speaking with DigiTimes, Intel will cut the prices of 8th Gen and 9th Gen Core series processors by 10 to 15 percent and OEM PC and motherboard partners are currently being informed of this. Assuming all goes to plan, this would put Intel’s CPUs to better compete in price VS performance comparisons to AMD’s latest batch of desktop CPUs.

We don’t know how true this rumour is but AMD’s 3rd Gen Ryzen launch is coming on the 7th of July, so if these price drops are coming, we should start to see them within the next few weeks.

KitGuru Says: For the sake of better consumer prices, we do hope there is some truth to this rumour. Of course, nothing is confirmed yet, so take this information with a pinch of salt. These next few weeks are certainly going to be interesting for PC hardware enthusiasts.
