AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Review – overclocking performance

3.8ghz is easy enough with any AMD Phenom II X6 processor, even with modest air cooling, but to achieve 4ghz + requires time and some TLC.

To reach 4ghz, the multiplier was increased to 4ghz with the FSB set to 200 mhz. There are other ways to reach 4 ghz, for example by lowering the multiplier to 18 or 19 and increasing the FSB, but we want to keep things uniform for the time being. Make sure that your memory is running within specifications if you overclock the FSB, otherwise this can lead to instability often confused with processor limitations.

We found stability at 4ghz with a voltage of 1.536 in this particular bios. Again we didn't need to adjust any other settings, such as NB voltage to achieve stability, automatic settings were sufficient.

Once we achieved stability, we can save this setting into the overclocking profile section of the MSI motherboard bios.

Validation for this clock speed can be confirmed over here.
