Nvidia RTX 4080 Super Review

Ray tracing 8-game average FPS

Looking at the eight-game ray tracing average, it's no surprise to see the RTX 4080 Super is second only to the RTX 4090, though it is admittedly still well behind the Nvidia flagship, coming in 28% slower on average. It also has the beating of the RX 7900 XTX, by a 30% margin, but there are no real gains over the RTX 4080.

Cost per frame, launch MSRP data

Nvidia's ray tracing prowess and the new lower price of the 4080 Super does mean that the 4080 Super sits close to the top of the chart for ray tracing cost per frame, when based on MSRP pricing. It's not quite as good value as the 4070 Super or 4070 Ti Super for 4K gaming, but it's certainly close.

Cost per frame, current pricing data

That picture doesn't change much when looking at current retail pricing either, with the 4080 Super about level with the vanilla RTX 4070.
