AMD RDNA 4 graphics architecture reportedly based on both 3nm and 5nm process nodes

We’re still several years away from seeing the RDNA 4 graphics architecture in the flesh, but the first rumours about its specifications have already started to emerge. As it seems, AMD’s upcoming architecture will use an MCM design based on two different process nodes.

According to Twitter leaker, Greymon55, the AMD RDNA 4 graphics architecture will be based on the 3nm and 5nm process nodes. Some SKUs should use an MCM design, like the Navi 3x GPUs, but the line-up won’t include refreshed GPUs.

The leaker didn’t specify how AMD will use both process nodes. However, considering what we know from past AMD architectures, it should build the graphics chip of the 3nm node and the I/O die on the 5nm node.

The RDNA 4 graphics architecture is expected to be featured in the Radeon RX 8000 series of graphics cards.
