Zotac GTX 480 Review

Metro 2033 is an action-oriented video game with a combination of survival horror, and first-person shooter elements. The game is based on the novel Metro 2033 by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. It was developed by 4A Games in Ukraine and released in March 2010 for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. In March 2009, 4A Games announced a partnership with Glukhovsky to collaborate on the game. The game was announced a few months later at the 2009 Games Convention in Leipzig- the first trailer came along with the announcement.

The game is founded around the 4A Engine which features complex artificial intelligence as well as enhanced lighting and environmental algorithms. The game also supports DX11 with Tessellation.

Testing was performed with maximum settings (all enabled including full volumetric texturing and soft particles) as well as triple AAA antialiasing and 16x texture filtering for the ultimate experience. This game is extremely demanding so higher resolutions are possible, however with the reduction of image quality – which the target audience will not be happy with.

The nVidia card comes out on top with the overclocked XFX board just trailing the performance a little throughout. Turning on PhysX has little performance penalty with the GTX 480 which is impressive to see.
