AMD will likely show the first AM5 X670 and B650 motherboards at Computex 2022

In the last few days, there have been a lot of rumours about AMD's 600-series motherboards, with reports claiming we would see new X670 and B650 boards at Computex 2022. Now, just ahead of AMD's keynote, details about X670 motherboards from vendors like ASRock and Asus have emerged online.

Earlier this week, Wccftech claimed that B650, X670 and X670E motherboards will be introduced at Computex 2022. The first two should be direct successors to the B550 and the X570, while the X670E looks to be a higher-end X670, where the “E” stands for “Extreme”.

As per the rumours, the X670e will feature PCIe 5.0 connectivity to the storage and graphics as baseline, whereas the X670 only features PCIe 4.0. Memory specifications are still unknown, but considering the mandatory PCIe 5.0 connectivity, we wouldn't be surprised if all X670E boards featured DDR5 memory support, while the X670 could either have support for DDR4 or DDR5 memory.

Shortly after these early reports emerged, ASRock accidentally uploaded a video showcasing its X670E Taichi motherboard. The video was later privatised, but VideoCardz was fast enough to document the evidence.

Lastly, a leaked PCB diagram of the Asus X670-P Prime WiFi was spotted by HXL on Baidu. In it, you can see the DDR5 memory slots, the 14-phase VRM design and the single PCIe x16 interface. However, the most surprising part is the dual chipset, matching an old rumour that the new motherboards would pack two Promontory chips from ASMedia. Besides this motherboard, there were mentions of ProArt X670E-Creator WiFi and a ProArt B650-Creator motherboards too.
