Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z Motherboard review (mATX)

A very important part of overall system responsiveness is down to hard drive performance. We use two of our favourite benchmark utilities Crystalmark X64 Edition and HD Tach to rate the Intel 510 250GB from the onboard SATA 6GBps controller.

The Intel 510 250GB SSD has achieved sequential read speeds over 500 MB/s on the Gigabyte Z68X UD7 B3 motherboard, but on the Asus board it peaked at 431.5 MB/s. All the other results are in line with what we would expect from this drive across a SATA 6Gbps port.
