Cyberpower Infinity X66 GTX Gaming PC review

Destiny 2 is a first-person sci-fi shared world shooter with role playing game elements, and sequel to developer Bungie's first venture away from its renown Halo series. Its story takes place shortly after the first title, in which the evil Cabal forces have overrun humanity's last safe haven. Players control their Guardian to drive back the Cabal, protecting The Light, as well as opting to compete against other players in its arena based combat set across various planets in the Milky Way.

To keep the test fair, all settings remained the same throughout testing Destiny 2, with only the resolution changed for comparison. Testing Destiny 2 is slightly harder than usual, given that Activision has prevented almost all third party applications from helping out. Without Fraps at my side, tests were instead conducted using a combination of the in-game frame counter, OBS and near-constant observation.

It's fair to say that Destiny 2 is fairly optimised for a PC port, and one that Cyberpower's Infinity X66 GTX handles beautifully at 1080p with an average of 83fps. The gap between the average and minimum frames achieved is also modest, meaning that immersion in the beautiful universe Bungie has created is rarely broken.

The system does struggle to climb to that popular 60fps mark at 1440p, however knocking the settings down a touch to the “high” preset or even tinkering a little with anti-aliasing and shadows helped maintain a healthy 63fps.

As expected, the 1060 6GB isn't built for 4K gaming, however cranking the settings down to the “low” preset held an average of 45 frames per second, which is more than I initially expected the system to handle.
