Starfield hits over 10 million players in less than a month

Over 10 million people have played Starfield. This milestone was achieved within two weeks of the game's release (three weeks if early access is included), making Starfield the largest launch in Bethesda history and one of the biggest launches of 2023 so far.

This is just the most recent achievement for Starfield. In the first two hours of early access on Steam, the game had over 230,000 concurrent players, and on release day (September 6th), it became Xbox's most-played next-gen game ever, with 1 million concurrent players. On September 7th, it was revealed that the game had over 6 million players.

Microsoft has not disclosed how many people are playing the game via Game Pass or Steam, but as of September 20th, the top concurrent player count on Steam surpassed 330,000 players, according to both SteamCharts and SteamDB. Unfortunately, it's not as easy to know how many people have played the game for Xbox Series X|S or opted to play via Game Pass.

Starfield is undoubtedly one of the most important games of 2023, and it is unquestionably the most high-profile Xbox Series X|S release since the systems' release in November 2020. The open-world RPG is Bethesda's first new IP in almost 25 years, the first Bethesda-developed game set in space, and the studio's first title since Microsoft's acquisition.

KitGuru says: The success of Starfield demonstrates Bethesda's ability to build immersive and interesting environments, as well as the rising popularity of sci-fi RPGs. With 10 million players and growing, the title might be on its way to becoming one of this generation's defining titles.
