Alan Wake 2 will be discounted at launch, future expansions confirmed

Earlier this week during the PlayStation Showcase, the first gameplay trailer for Alan Wake 2 finally dropped and better yet, we got confirmation of an October release date. Since then, Remedy has revealed a few more details – for starters, Alan Wake 2 won't be a ‘full-priced' game and PC players will get a discount over the console versions.

Alan Wake 2 is going to be a digital-only game, a shift that Remedy says has allowed it to keep the price of the game at the old standard of $60. On PC, players will get a bit more money knocked off the asking price, bringing the day-one cost down to $50. Here in the UK, this works out to be £49.99 for the console version and £39.99 for the PC version.

Of course, as is often the case with modern games, launch is just the beginning. Remedy does have plans for two expansions, which will be sold bundled together as part of the Expansion Pass. Those who buy the more expensive Digital Deluxe edition (£54.99 on PC, £64.99 on console), will get a set of cosmetics, including new outfits and weapon skins.

The lack of a physical disc release for Alan Wake 2 has caused a small stir online, to the point where THQ has offered to help out with a physical release, so we'll have to wait and see what comes of that.

Alan Wake 2 will be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on the 17th of October.
