Battlefield 2042 launches to mostly negative reviews on Steam

After a week-long early access period, Battlefield 2042 officially launched worldwide last Friday. DICE is already aware of a number of issues within the game at launch, pre-empting the release with a blog post promising two patches this month, followed by more updates. As you might expect, this has not stopped players from speaking up on the state of the game, filing over 36,000 reviews on Steam.

Battlefield 2042 has launched to a ‘Mostly Negative' rating on Steam, based on over 36,000 reviews. Most of the serious reviews are negative, while a few meme reviews have snuck into the top rated reviews list with a positive recommendation for the game.

Most complaints focus on in-game bugs, including general gameplay problems, issues with vehicles, graphical issues across maps and more. Some players have also been disappointed in the lack of server browser and leaderboards, the lack of in-game voice chat, weapon variety and general performance on PC.

Aside from the day-one patch that arrived last Friday, DICE has two more updates planned for Battlefield 2042 over the next 30 days – assuming there are no delays. These patches will include bug fixes, balance changes and quality-of-life enhancements.
